A gas bill usually includes a daily supply charge, your gas usage in megajoules (MJ), the rate charged per MJ, and GST. Check whether the meter reading is actual or estimated, as an estimate can make the bill higher or lower than your real usage. Your bill may also show discounts, concessions, late fees, solar or other credits, and the billing period. If the amount seems incorrect, compare the meter details and contact your gas retailer; you can also compare plans through the Australian Energy Regulator’s Energy Made Easy service.
